Occupational Therapy Settings

When I am asked what setting I am interested in working in as an OT practitioner I have several ideas come to mind. I am interested in a couple of settings to potentially practice in, first being in a pediatric setting. I was able to shadow an OT in a pediatric outpatient center and getting to see how pediatric occupational therapy is conducted was very interesting. During my last two years of undergrad I worked as a tech in an outpatient facility that primary treated adults so going to shadow in a pediatric only setting was very different. I am also interested in working in acute care. I interned with an OT acute care my last semester of undergrad and I really enjoyed it. I liked how the OT was able to work with clients with various diagnoses. As I continue to learn about occupational therapy and go on fieldwork placements in the next two years, I think my interest may change or may become more specific to the ideas I already have for my future career.
